It’s that time of the year again when the world’s authority on colour declares a ‘Color of the Year’. This year, however, we have not 1, but 2 Colors of the Year – Rose Quartz & Serenity, or as the less-trained eye might call – baby pink and powder blue.
Like last year’s Marsala, this year will have its fair share of critics too. Why 2? Did they just walk into a baby store to pick a colour? Did they want to nod in support of gender equality? What were they smoking? Pastels for fall?
We looked up what Pantone had to say about it. “We wanted compassion, which today a lot of people are looking for,” Ms. Eiseman says. Pantone’s news release describes the colors as “inducing feelings of stability, constancy, comfort and relaxation,” and argues that they “create balance in a chaotic world.”
Hmm, so what do you think? Tell us while we air-dry our Pantone manicures.
