Kallol Datta 1955 – ERO GURO WIFW Spring/Summer 2013

Kallol Datta’s Spring/summer – Ero Guro, stands for ‘Grotesque Nonsense’, “a ritualistic way of ”!!! and we can always count on Kallol Datta to explore the dark, aggressive side of a story and bring it out cleverly and artistically in a way that you’re willing to walk a mile to just get in the clothes. And maybe not just that, it’s ultimately the mystique inspiring depths of his head that you want to grasp.

Continuing the narrative from his Fall/Winter collection of the lost girl performing an autopsy ( A story set in Japan), Kallol explores the ‘Loss of sanity’ which wasn’t part of the plan! whites to represent aggression, baby skeletons and the ‘Insanity’ graphic as must have prints. To top it all, Femur and Tibia bones arranged in chevron patterns to compliment the 3-D structured with skewed pocket details and like slashes and seams.

Key Notes:

:  Cotton, wool blends, nets and silk.

Music score: , Shelter by The xx

Interesting Q&A with Kallol Datta

Me: Whose closet would you raid?

Kallol: Anand Kabra’s and ’s , he replies promptly as Arjun Saluja walks in.

Me: One you wish never came back.

Kallol: Umm.. dresses horrible little dresses, now that’s macabre, why get mummified for no reason? I don’t get it!

Me: Who do you see wearing your collection?

Kallol: Someone who is “globally confident”? Who are we to decide?

Hope you enjoyed that! :)
