Bridal couture by Manish Malhotra
It was interesting to see peplum details blending beautifully with in an otherwise traditional Indian ensemble. Another interesting silhouette was the Rajasthani style full skirted-Top with a sheer back and ornate embroidery details. Loved Nayonika Chatterjee’s (saw her walking after a long time) ensemble of uneven-hem-extended-sheer-choli in sheer mesh layered over bright ‘Gulabi’ layered lehenga.
The colours for womenswear packed a punch with a gorgeous hue of ‘Gulabi” (pink) brightening up the runway teamed with ecru, black, muted blacks and bright tomato reds. The men were ornately attired in rich burgundy, gold, cobalt blue, ecru, black and beige.
Vidyut Jamwal opened the show in his drool worthy six pack and gold trousers and Katrina Kaif, the show stopper added the Kashmiri spice to the otherwise staid runway.
Manish Malhotra’s show supplied the much anticipated Bollywood glamour to the Fashion Week, with the star caste of the film ‘Student Of the Year’ present in the front row along with the director Karan Johar, Suzzane Roshan and Shabana Azmi.
It was certainly a star studded collection with Alia Bhat and Karan Johar walking the ramp after the models had left for changing and nearly half the audience had moved out for the press conference. Maybe the little lady Bhatt wanted to walk down path that Katrina Kaif had taken not long before. All I can say to this is ‘patience is a virtue’ and for success, you got to climb the ladder – not walk the ramp!
