The Golden Globes Series: Part 1 of 3
The Red-Carpet at Golden Globes is a sight to behold. It didn’t let us down this year either. There were gorgeous men and women in gorgeous clothes and captivating hairdo’s.
However, the red carpet took a bit of an oceanic feel when most of the leading ladies turned up in fish-tail hem gowns! It was definitely dramatic and awe-inspiring. There were monochromatic hues galore with blue, reds, emerald greens, pinks and black dominating the scene.
Tilda Swinton was my favorite fishtail-gown celebrity of the day – wearing a powder blue Haider Ackermann gown and Jacket with Fred Leighton jewellery, she looked the part of an arctic mermaid in my opinion! The delicate pearlized-beaded sandals simply added to the mesmerizing effect. Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) was the other showstopper – riding the waves in a Vera Wang sapphire blue gown.Love the glittering bare back, sari-like draped gown!
Truly a lot of fish in the sea. And besides, Evan Rachel Wood made it all seem very real in her iridescent, sequined mermaid-peacock halter gown (Gucci). If she was disappointed about her family being denied entry to the awards, she clearly didn’t show that on the red carpet!
Elle Macpherson radiated serious style in a Zac Posen cream corseted gown, which featured layers and layers of tulle underskirt. Talking about the dress, Elle said: ‘I need a driver’s license to wear it. I have a hard time driving it. ‘It would be hard for a less experienced woman to wear it!’ We agree, Kate!
Charlize’s metallic red-tipped pencil stilettos set the tone for the plethora of stars stepping on to the carpet.
There’s still much to cover, so stay tuned!
