Delicate and soft, beautiful and romantic – just the words that resonate with Varun Bahl’s latest couture collection! Covering the India Couture Week 2016 for Joos, our friend Shipra spotted a host of the designer’s friends and colleagues looking on at the wondrous work of intricate embroidery and floral motifs! From JJ Vallya to Ashish Soni and Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Randeep Hooda and Suhel Seth, among others were the enthused guests in this show! Not surprising, as Varun is known to surprise with his attention to detail and workmanship that is class apart. And he did not disappoint! The stage was set with a look that said ‘We are meant to be’ with beautiful fresh flowers and a beautiful setting for a romantic tête-à-tête!
What started with a palette of whites and ecrus with gold and bronze embroideries soon moved into lighter pastels and then darker more evening shades of navy, reds, browns although the predominant colors were still the lighter shades. If you see a lot of wedding trousseau this season dominated by pastels and ecrus, Varun would undoubtedly be the pioneer to have steered the trend in this direction! Unusual color combinations and a pretty extensive men’s wear range and you’ve got a hit. Who needs show openers and show stoppers when you’ve got every other element of success incorporated?
